As a 14-time serial and parallel entrepreneur and angel investor turned investment banker, I am passionate about entrepreneurship and those leaders who create value through their vision and execution of the ideas of their fertile minds.

Entrepreneurs are the most gifted, driven, tenacious, and talented group I have ever known. They accepted the often-imbalanced life of risk/reward, put it all on the line, and have genuinely proven to be the engine that moves the world! 

 

It can be a lonely road, a joyous road, and despite extreme highs and lows, it’s ultimately a fulfilling journey for those that win the game and capture the prize of creating multi-generational wealth, as well as crafting a sustainable legacy for their teams and employees in the process.   

 

As a CEO of an investment banking firm, I have also had the privilege of coming alongside dozens of entrepreneurs, families, and CEOs and walking with them through a very arduous process of M&A and the sale of their “baby.” In this process, I have come to appreciate the joy of creating and capturing generation wealth, fostering new beginnings, and celebrating with them the freedom a great M&A event can provide them as a reward for their hard work.   

 

In the end, I hope this book helps you examine why you may want to sell or keep your business, understand what buyers value, understand how the process works, and share a few success stories of how others like you have captured this version of the American dream. 

 

More specifically, this book is for: Entrepreneurs, CEO, and families who are the backbone of American business. These companies and owners strive for significance in their markets, community and industry, in what’s called the lower middle market ($10MM - $250MM in revenues) and the entrepreneurs, founders or families that run them. If you are a hired gun CEO or an advisor to those middle-market companies, this book is for you too. 

 

This book is not out to impress you with M&A acronyms and confuse you with industry esotericisms but is written in plain speaking, practical application for first time sellers or those that want to unlock the keys to using M&A to unlock the value of their companies and capture the value of their life's work.
